Alexis Valdés bids farewell to El Taiger: "The people who make life better sometimes leave too soon."

"What a shame. What sadness. A guy with that smile. It was a pleasure and an honor to meet him, and the great sadness is knowing that we will not laugh like that again."

The Cuban presenter and comedian Alexis Valdés said goodbye on his social media to the reggaeton artist José Manuel Carvajal Zaldívar (El Taiger), who died at Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami, a week after receiving a gunshot wound to the head.

The popular actor shared on Facebook a photo of a performance by El Taiger on a television show where both of them look happy, laughing heartily.

"What a shame. What sadness. A guy with that smile. It was a pleasure and an honor to meet him, and the great sadness is knowing that we will not laugh like that again," he stated.

"Who understands the mystery of life? The people who make life better sometimes leave too soon. People with so much talent and light. They leave us an even sadder world. Your soul, your music, your shine, your uniqueness, your courage, your funny or wise phrases, your quirks... your energy stays forever among us," he concluded.

El Taiger, 36 years old, was declared dead on Thursday afternoon. "He has now reunited with his beloved mother in heaven," stated an official message posted on his Instagram page.

Alexis was one of the many Cuban artists who sent messages of solidarity to the singer a few days ago when he was in the hospital.

Over the weekend, he shared a photo in which both appear smiling next to the singer-songwriter Willy Chirino. "We need you healthy and smiling. And getting people to dance. That's your thing. Come on, you can't be taken down easily," he said then.

The singer and songwriter even dedicated a special song to El Taiger, accompanied by a message full of affection.

"I want to sing this song that I just wrote for Jose, I don't know if I wrote it or if it was sent to me, in either case, it's to share with you all, with everyone who loves and admires him," he said before performing the song a cappella with his guitar in hand.
