Cuban woman who did not evacuate with her children during the hurricane responds to criticism: "God weakened Milton"

Denise Díaz said that when the weather situation worsened, she told herself, “I am sure that God will create a bubble to protect my family and my home.”

Cuban Denise Díaz, who chose not to evacuate her family from Tampa during Hurricane Milton's passage through Florida, after which she became the target of numerous criticisms, responded that her faith in God protected her from the devastating cyclone that struck the state.

On TikTok (@denisediaz017), the young woman responded to those who criticized her, stating that "the power of prayer is so great and faith moves mountains, that in the worst moment, when I was most distressed and afraid, I felt a peace in my heart, a voice inside me said 'calm down, everything will be okay'."

“I never lost faith,” Díaz pointed out, who also mentioned that when the weather situation worsened, she told herself: “The world may be ending out there, but I’m sure that God will create a bubble to protect my family and my home.”

She also noted, "Thank God the water didn't get into my house, and we didn't lose electricity, so the power of prayer is great," said the woman, mother of two young children, who admitted that in almost two decades of living in Tampa, United States, she has never been affected by a hurricane of great intensity.

In response to those who have criticized her for not complying with the evacuation order, she noted that the greatest proof that the power of prayer is divine is that "God weakened the fury of Hurricane Milton before it reached Florida."

"Thank God, for the power of prayer and the faith we never lost, the hurricane completely weakened, and Milton made landfall as a category two," said the young Cuban, who described the wind and rain assault at the moment the cyclone was most affecting the region as "monstrous."

Díaz, who was broadcasting live during the passage of Hurricane Milton, pointed out that it was a family decision to stay in their home in Tampa, although the government recommended evacuation.

"I have been labeled irresponsible, materialistic, that I prioritize material things over the safety and well-being of my family," said the young woman, who responded to those harsh criticisms with an assertion: "I don't have to prove anything to people who don't know me."
