Oil spill causes multiple accidents in Havana

The spill was caused by a crane that lost a large amount of oil on the road.

Several accidents are reported this Wednesday at the intersection of Vento and San Miguel in Havana, where an oil spill has resulted in motorcycles falling and collisions between cars.

According to the report from user Thaimy Carrasco Valladares on the social network Facebook, the spill was caused by a crane that lost a large amount of oil on the road.

Carrasco published a video showing the fall of a motorcyclist. In addition, through an emoticon, he criticized the absence of firefighters at the scene to clean the avenue.

This type of incident is not new on the island. Last April, a similar situation occurred in Santiago de Cuba, when a blackout left the Patria avenue without street lighting, and a spill of vegetable oil caused several motorcyclists to slip in the darkness.

The communicator Yosmany Mayeta shared images of the firefighters cleaning the affected street, a crucial artery that connects to the Heritage Cemetery of the province.

In last March, a cyclist suffered several injuries after failing to see a pothole on a street in Holguín, which was dark due to the savings campaign implemented by the government because of the serious electric crisis the country is experiencing.
