The Cuban baseball team traveled this Wednesday to South Korea as part of their journey to the Premier 12 tournament, which will take place from November 10 to 24 in Mexico, Chinese Taipei, and Japan.

In the preparation process, the team led by Armando Johnson will play in the South Korean Autumn Development League from October 18 to November 2, according to the site Swing Completo. This event will distribute cash prizes, and the champion will receive 20 million won (the equivalent of a little over 14,700 US dollars).

Before the departure, the Facebook page of JIT Deporte Cubano posted some snapshots at José Martí International Airport in Havana.

Regarding the Premier, Cuba, whose team was officially announced on Tuesday morning, is in group B along with South Korea, the Dominican Republic, Australia, Taipei, and Japan, the reigning champion.

The matches of this round will take place at the "Vantelin Dome Nagoya," a Japanese dream, and at the "Taipéi Dome" and "Tianmu," both in Taipei.

In section A, Mexico, the United States, Venezuela, the Netherlands, Panama, and Puerto Rico will compete from November 10 to 14 at the "Pan American Stadium Charros de Jalisco" in Guadalajara and at "Santa Teresita de Tepic" in Nayarit, all in Mexican cities.

In this third edition, the tournament will have a similar format to the previous editions. After the first phase, the top two teams from each group will compete in the Super Round, which is scheduled to take place at the Tokyo Dome.

The leaders of that stage will clash for the gold, while third and fourth will fight to secure a spot on the podium of awards.

In the previous Premier 12, Cuba was eliminated right away after a pathetic performance summarized in two shutouts out of three possible. They were handed 26 zeros out of 28, did not hit for extra bases, and their batters struck out 28 times, with only four walks.

The last edition of the event, held in 2019, was won by Japan. Meanwhile, four years earlier, in 2015, the first championship was won by South Korea.
