Cuban pitcher Liván Moinelo etched his name in Japanese baseball history by winning the earned run average title in the country's Professional League (NPB), wearing the uniform of the SoftBank Hawks.

The left-handed pitcher finished the regular season with an impressive ERA of 1.88 in 163 innings, becoming the first Latin American to achieve this feat in the Pacific League.

According to the agency Prensa Latina, Moinelo, who debuted this year as a starter, secured the lead after Japanese Hiroya Miyagi from the Orix Buffalos was unable to achieve the necessary outs to move the Caribbean player from first place in that important category.

In addition to being the first Latino pitcher to achieve this title, the flamethrower became the seventh foreigner in the history of the NPB to lead the category, which reaffirms the growing impact of Latino players in that competition.

Overall, the player achieved a record of 11-5, with 155 strikeouts.

As if that weren't enough, another Cuban stood out this season. In the Central League, the fellow pitcher Raidel Martínez won the saves title with 43, while the Dominican Domingo Santana finished second in batting average with .315, solidifying a successful season for Latin American players in Japan.
