The death of a Cuban in a traffic accident in the United States on Thursday has caused deep sorrow among family and friends.
The victim of the fatal accident was identified on social media by his friends as José Ernesto, originally from Minas de Matahambre in Pinar del Río.
The news of his passing was shared by his friend Korache Valdés Bosmenier, who specified that early Thursday morning, as José Ernesto was leaving work on his motorcycle, a car ran a red light and struck him.
“Today the world is in mourning…! I have no words to express this immense loss, and with tears in my eyes and a broken heart, I want to let the rest of our friends know… Jose, I will always remember you as that great crazy friend, companion, and brother… Rest in peace,” were the heartbreaking words of Valdés, who accompanied the post with several photos alongside José Ernesto.
In his post, he did not disclose the city where the accident occurred or any other details.
From Cuba, another friend of the deceased also expressed his sorrow for the loss. "Today the sky is in mourning, my friend José, I still can't believe it, but remember that I will always hold you in my heart. I recall that night you called me via video call to cheer me up," wrote Pelao Rubio.
"It's these hours, and I still can't believe it. My great friend and brother José Ernesto, one day we will return up there to enjoy your music that you loved so much. I love you, you know it," he expressed in another heartfelt message.
Friends and acquaintances have highlighted José Ernesto's qualities, including his joy, loyalty, and how much he was loved in his community. They have also expressed condolences to his family.
"I am very sorry for your loss, Jose. You will always live in our hearts; your memory will be a light in our lives. Rest in peace. We will remember you with affection and gratitude." "Jose, for God's sake! I'm at a loss for words, my dear. Eternal rest for someone who never rested and brought so much joy and memories to many!" These poignant messages stand out among the heartfelt tributes written by his friends in response to the unexpected death of the Cuban.
Recently, several traffic accidents have been reported in which Cubans who emigrated to the United States have lost their lives.
Last Saturday, a Cuban family lost three of its members, including an eight-year-old boy, in a multi-vehicle crash in Miami-Dade.
Days earlier, 46-year-old Alexis Muñoz, a married father of three who had recently emigrated to Florida, was killed after being struck by a hit-and-run driver while riding his scooter to work.
