Two women remain in critical condition following the traffic accident that occurred last Monday on the road from Morón to Turiguanó, in Ciego de Ávila, which resulted in seven fatalities.

The injured are admitted to the intensive care unit of the Provincial Hospital Captain Roberto Rodríguez Fernández, in Morón.

Doctor Youslierdys Manuel Ávila Companioni, a specialist in Intensive Medicine, explained to the Cuban News Agency that both are stable and show normal parameters in blood pressure, heart rate, body temperature, and urine volume.

One of the patients suffered a frontal fracture that required the removal of a segment of the broken bone, while the other has more severe injuries, including diffuse zonal damage and a skull fracture, as well as a traumatic amputation of the right foot and an open fracture of the left lower limb, with a broken femur.

According to the specialist, the two women are on mechanical ventilation, which carries additional risks due to being intubated and using Levin-type nasogastric tubes. So far, everything is progressing favorably, and they will undergo radiological examinations to reassess their condition.

On the other hand, seven injured individuals remain hospitalized in the Neurosurgery ward, with moderate to mild injuries associated with extensive epicranial wounds on the scalp, including lacerations and some extending to the face, as well as minor fractures of the skull and of the midbase.

Everyone is aware and reported as stable, with symptoms such as headaches, dizziness, and mild to moderate muscle pain. They are evolving satisfactorily, and none show signs of severe traumatic brain injury.

On Tuesday, a patient who had a cervical sprain and mild cranial trauma was discharged from the hospital.

In the early hours of Monday, two buses transporting workers from the Coco and Guillermo keys collided on the road to Cayo Coco, apparently in conditions of low visibility due to the fog that enveloped the area.

The official investigation confirmed that the incident was the responsibility of the driver of the Yutong bus coming from the municipal capital. Captain Norge Pérez Fraga, the second in command of Police Instruction in the province, stated that the vehicle "interfered with the route of the Transmetro, which was traveling in the opposite direction, amid a thick fog that hindered visibility."

On Thursday, a Cuban paid a unique and emotional tribute with artificial intelligence to the bus drivers involved, both of whom lost their lives in the tragic accident. In the video, Yuniester Oliva Artiles and Yohelvis Reino Veitía, the two drivers, are seen greeting each other and embracing warmly.

The accident resulted in an initial toll of six fatalities (four at the scene and two in the hospital) and 59 injured. In recent hours, the number has increased to seven, due to the death of a 34-year-old worker from the Playa Coco hotel.

After the disaster, many people went to the blood bank to donate in response to the authorities' call.
