The car manufacturer Honda announced that it will recall nearly 300,000 Honda and Acura vehicles in the United States due to the risk of engine problems.

The company explained in a statement that an incorrect programming of the fuel injection electronic control unit (FI-ECU) was detected, which causes sudden changes in the throttle.

This, in turn, could cause the check engine light to turn on and the vehicle to lose power, stumble, stall, or stop, which may increase the risk of accidents and injuries.

American Honda diagnosed the problem by monitoring the telematics information and determined that the software of the supplier's part needs to be updated.

Therefore, it will voluntarily recall about 295,000 vehicles, including the Honda Pilot 2023-25, Acura MDX Type S 2022-25, and Acura TLX Type S 2021-25.

"Authorized Honda and Acura dealers will update the FI-ECU software of the affected vehicles free of charge," the note specifies.

The company emphasized that it has not received any confirmed reports of accidents or injuries related to the issue.

Owners of the affected models will be contacted by mail in March to take their vehicle to an authorized Honda or Acura dealer for the FI-ECU software update. The manufacturer advises that they should do this as soon as they receive the notification.

Those who wish to know if their vehicles require repairs can find the information on the websites www.recalls.honda.com or www.recalls.acura.com, or by calling (888) 234-2138.
