Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla warned this Tuesday that the new U.S. Secretary of State, Cuban-American Marco Rubio, "will be left wanting" to visit Havana, as this would require a change of government on the island, something he assured will not happen.

The Cuban chancellor rejected that possibility and delivered a strong criticism of the high-ranking U.S. official, accusing him of "knowing absolutely nothing" and stating that he was not invited.

"The Secretary of State of #USA wants to visit Havana, but first he wants to change our Government. He will be left wanting. He will not be able to know #Cuba, a country about which he knows absolutely nothing. He was not invited.", Rodríguez wrote in his message.

In his statement, the head of Cuban diplomacy defended the political system of the island and assured that his government has "the support of the people of #Cuba", and that "it will continue to defend the Revolution, national independence, and sovereignty."

"We have had 13 U.S. presidents and have lost count of the Secretaries of State," the diplomat concluded in a challenging tone.

"She will visit you, that's for sure, no evil lasts 100 years nor does any body endure it, and you are already on the decline", stated activist Iliana Hernández in the comments.

"God is great and does not want a balcony to collapse on Marco Rubio's head while he's visiting the ruins in Havana"; "Tick tock, tick tock, tick tock, tick tock"; "The only thing that is lost is the hunger and misery that exists in Cuba"; "What a foolish thing you just said!", were some opinions.

"That's right, we don't want anything from the U.S.; they should just limit themselves to sending top-ups and remittances, but no opinions," concluded another internet user.

The origin of Bruno Rodríguez's post on X is the response given by Marco Rubio to a Fox News journalist who interviewed him this Tuesday in El Salvador.

In response to the question, "Do you see yourself, as a representative of the United States Government, ever going to Havana?", Rubio replied:

"Well, first of all, we have no intention of going to Havana with this regime in power, except to discuss when they will leave. This regime is a disaster. It has destroyed the country. It is a regime hostile to the United States. So, until that changes, I have nothing to discuss with them, he pointed out."

Since the distant year of 2016, when he was a likely Republican candidate for the White House - a race he lost to Trump himself - in an interview with CNN , Marco Rubio warned that if he were to become president of the U.S., he would never visit the island.

At that moment, there was the recent precedent of Obama’s visit to the island. On that occasion, Marco Rubio made it clear that he would not visit Cuba until it was a free Cuba, and he explained his compelling reasons, arguments that have not changed since then.

Marco Rubio arrived in Panama last Saturday, marking the beginning of his first international tour as head of U.S. diplomacy.

The trip, which also includes stops in El Salvador, Costa Rica, Guatemala, and the Dominican Republic, aims to strengthen bilateral relations and cooperation on key issues such as migration, regional security, and economic growth.

Rubio, who has stood out for his strong stance against authoritarian regimes in Latin America, particularly those of Cuba, Nicaragua, and Venezuela, reaffirmed his commitment to strengthening security and stability in the region.

His appointment as Secretary of State, the first Hispanic to hold this position, marks a milestone in U.S. politics and reflects the growing influence of the Latino community on the international stage.
