The former president Donald Trump proposed this Thursday on his social media platform Truth Social that Israel should hand over the Gaza Strip to the United States once the conflict is concluded.
According to his proposal, Palestinians would be relocated to safer and more modern communities within the region, and the U.S., in conjunction with international development teams, would transform the area into one of the most spectacular cities in the world.

"The Gaza Strip would be handed over to the United States by Israel at the conclusion of the conflict. The Palestinians (...) would already have been resettled in much safer and more beautiful communities, with new and modern housing in the region. In reality, they would have the chance to be happy, secure, and free," Trump wrote.
Additionally, he assured that his plan would not require the presence of U.S. troops and that his initiative would ensure the stability of the region.
However, last Tuesday the president stated that his administration would take control of the Gaza Strip and would oversee its reconstruction, including the removal of explosives and the creation of new infrastructure.
Regarding President Donald Trump's proposal about the Gaza Strip, Secretary of State Marco Rubio stated on the X platform that Gaza must be free from Hamas and that, as the president mentioned, the United States is ready to lead and make Gaza beautiful again.
Rubio emphasized that the goal is to achieve lasting peace in the region for all peoples.
This Wednesday, White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt reaffirmed at a press conference that the United States will not send troops to Gaza nor finance the reconstruction of the Palestinian enclave.
Leavitt rejected the premise that this strategy involves American intervention in conflicts abroad: "The president has not committed to sending U.S. troops to Gaza. Nor has he stated that the United States will pay for reconstruction."
He also insisted that the Trump administration will work with regional allies to ensure stability in the area.
"This is an innovative idea, and that is what President Trump represents. His goal is to achieve lasting peace in the Middle East for all communities in the region," he added.
In this regard, the spokesperson for the leader emphasized that other actors have made it clear to Trump that the U.S. must be involved in the reconstruction of Gaza to ensure regional stability.
On Tuesday, Trump held his first bilateral meeting at the White House with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, reaffirming the relationship between the two countries and their determination to eliminate Hamas.
According to Leavitt, the leader is convinced that his vision is the only one capable of changing the course in the region: “To insist on the same approaches and expect different results is madness. Trump is a visionary leader who addresses problems that many here consider impossible to solve.”
Trump's historic proposal for the United States to take control of Gaza's reconstruction reaffirms, according to the White House, the president's commitment to stability and peace in the region.
