A Cuban was jailed this Tuesday accused of robbing several businesses in the city of Miami, after being caught collecting the winnings from lottery tickets he had stolen during the heists.
A Yoamil Nápoles, 49 years old and originally from Cuba, his good luck ran out when the Miami Police arrested him on charges including robbery, grand theft, property damage, and trafficking in stolen property, reported television networks that accessed Miami-Dade jail records.
Naples and another suspect who has not yet been arrested committed a series of thefts in businesses across the county last month.
The first robbery took place on January 11, between 4:00 and 5:00 a.m., at Jimmy's Discount Store, a discount store located at 4589 Northwest 7th Street, Flagami.
The suspects looted the counter and front shelves of the store, from where they took cartons of cigarettes, watches, and scratch-off lottery tickets.
The surveillance cameras captured one of the thieves putting the items into a bag before yanking the cash register and fleeing with all the loot.

Two weeks after that first incident, on January 25, there was another robbery at a Kwik Stop located at 764 Northwest 29th Street, Allapattah.
According to the arrest report, Nápoles entered the establishment through the kitchen ceiling and stole $450 in cash, around $2,000 in cigarettes, and another $2,000 in lottery tickets.
A detective reported that it also caused damage to the store's roof amounting to approximately $2,000.
Subsequently, the Cuban was recorded in other businesses while claiming lottery prizes.
Police officers arrested him this Tuesday, and he confessed to the crimes. His girlfriend also identified him in photographs.
The detained individual appeared in the Miami-Dade criminal court this Wednesday. During the hearing, a Miami police officer stated that Nápoles could be part of a group suspected of committing several similar robberies.
The judge ordered that the Cuban remain in the TGK jail of the county without the right to bail.
