A medium-sized fire destroyed four homes in the municipality of Placetas, Villa Clara, this Monday afternoon, although fortunately, no loss of human life or injuries were reported.

Two of the houses sustained partial damage, while the other two were completely destroyed, according to an update on social media by the official communicator Henry Omar Pérez.

The fire -unleashed on 1st Street North, between 6th and 7th West- started in one of the homes for reasons that have not been disclosed, and quickly spread to the neighboring houses.

The intervention of the combined forces of the Ministry of the Interior and the Fire Department prevented the flames from spreading further, as revealed by the official source.

Four fire brigades participated in the extinguishing efforts: the one from Placetas, the provincial brigade, the one from Caibarién, and the one from Camajuaní.

Additionally, they received crucial support from water tankers from both the state and private sectors, with the collaboration of the dairy products company particularly noteworthy, as it made its resources available to combat the fire.

Witnesses highlighted the bravery of the firefighters, especially the younger ones, who risked their lives to protect those affected. Additionally, the community joined in the efforts to contain the fire.

Chiefs and officials from the Ministry of the Interior (MININT) arrived at the scene, including the governor of Villa Clara, Milaxy Yanet Sánchez Armas.

The governor, accompanied by authorities from the Party and the municipal Government, assessed the damage and coordinated actions to assist the affected families.

The causes of the fire are under investigation.

A post in the Facebook group "Todos Somos Placetas" toned down the idealistic tone of the official note, pointing out that "the local firefighters" had no water.

"What state media and journalists didn't report. Two fire trucks had to come, one from Santa Clara and the other from Camajuaní, along with many water tankers from Placetas, because the local firefighters didn't have any," stated internet user Rubén Carrillo.

In the circulated videos, neighbors from the adjacent homes were seen hurriedly taking their belongings out to protect them from the flames, and the alarm and nervousness of the residents were evident.

As of the closure of this note, there are no other official details regarding the incident.
