A ferocious fire consumed several homes in the municipality of Placetas, in Villa Clara, on the afternoon of this Monday, according to preliminary reports.
Forces from the Ministry of Interior (Minint) and the Fire Department are working to extinguish the flames, reported communicator Henry Omar Pérez on Facebook.

A report published by Odalys Paz Morales, a journalist for the state-run Radio Placetas, confirmed that there were no loss of human life during the fire, which occurred on 1st North Street, between 6th and 7th West.
Paz stated that it is a fire of "medium proportions"; however, he immediately added that it destroyed several homes in the area, without specifying the number. He further mentioned that teams of firefighters are tackling the blaze.
On social media, videos and citizen reports of the disaster are circulating. A post with images shared by Marlene R. Sandoval indicates that four houses were presumably burned, as "the firefighters have been unable to control the fire."
In the videos, the neighbors of the surrounding houses can be seen hurriedly removing their belongings to protect them from the flames, and the alarm and nervousness of the residents is evident.
A user of the social network shared a video that, according to her, was sent by a Spanish journalist, and she wrote: "A fire in Placetas, Villa Clara province, which threatens to spread due to strong winds, and the firefighters have neither water nor conditions to extinguish it. We will be vigilant. God have mercy."
"Group, a very large fire in 7ma del Oeste between the Central Highway and 1ra del Norte. Help!!!" cried a woman resident in Placetas, in a Revolico group on Facebook.
According to Henry Omar Pérez, technical reinforcements from the cities of Santa Clara and Camajuaní were dispatched to the area to assist in extinguishing the fire, and he added that local and provincial authorities are present at the scene.
During this month, multiple fires have been reported in different provinces, resulting in material losses whose extent is unknown, as the government typically does not release data on the damage caused by these incidents.
