A Cuban mother in the United States shared on her social media her bad experience at a Walmart in Lehigh Acres, Florida. The woman, who often shares anecdotes from her daily life, described the store as "a doghouse" and stated that she prefers to drive a few extra minutes to go to the Walmart in Fort Myers, which she considers to be quieter.
"There’s no one who can go there and shop in peace and quiet. I prefer to drive 10 more minutes and go to the one in Fort Myers," stated @yeli_95_ in her video.
According to her, her dislike for the Lehigh Acres store increased after a man, apparently intoxicated, nearly sat on one of her daughters. "I had to give him a shove and say a few things. I know it can happen anywhere, but the vibe of that Walmart is something I really don’t like,” said the Cuban woman, who admitted she avoids going out alone with her daughters to public places due to her constant concern for children's safety.
"I try as much as possible not to go out alone with the girls due to the whole child abduction dilemma. When I go out, I can see four pairs of eyes on me, thinking that everyone is bad. Call me crazy, but I'd rather be on the defensive," she assured.
Despite her caution, this time she had no other option, as her husband was at work and she needed to stock up the pantry. She fondly recounted that her eldest son, upon learning she was going shopping, asked her to wait for him so he could accompany her in the afternoon, knowing she doesn’t like to go out alone. "I laughed and said to him, 'Yes, sweetie, don’t worry, I need to do it in the morning because the stores are quieter.'"
In addition to her dissatisfaction with the shopping experience, the mother was also shocked by the high prices. "I couldn’t buy everything on my list, and this car is a warrior. I bought the basic items and I spent exactly 200 dollars on just that. Folks, everything is way too expensive, you need to lower the prices now."
Reactions on social media
The video generated various reactions on social media. Some users recommended subscribing to Walmart's membership, which allows for home delivery of purchases at no extra cost. "You can buy the membership and they'll bring it to your house, at no additional cost, it's the best there is," commented one follower.
Others, on the other hand, expressed solidarity with her concerns about the safety of her children and her discomfort with going out alone to shop. "We all have a Walmart that we don't like, and I'm the same—I don't like going out alone with the kids to shop."
