The Cuban Ministry of Tourism affirmed on social media that the fifth best hotel in the world is located on the Island, despite the fact that the tourism sector is still in decline, showing the worst figures since 2003.

In a post on Facebook, the regime's entity highlighted that the hotel Iberostar Grand Packard was selected last year to be part of the Travellers' Choice – Best of the Best 2024 by Tripadvisor:

In the World Luxury category, it ranked second, while in the Top World category, it placed fifth.

On that occasion, alongside the Iberostar Grand Packard in Havana, the Mystique Trinidad La Popa from the Royalton chain also ranked 19th among the best in the world.

Both were part of the list of 25 establishments that, after a survey, was compiled by Tripadvisor.

"The Iberostar Grand Packard hotel !", the regime wrote on Facebook, attempting to attract more tourism amid a severe crisis that also affects the hotel sector.

The five-star Iberostar Grand Packard Hotel in Havana opened its doors in September 2018, featuring 312 rooms with special services and top-quality finishes.

At the time of its launch in the tourism market, the Star Prestige Packard Suite could reach up to 1,300 euros.

Now, Old Havana, where the luxury hotel is located, suffers from a lack of tourists, but the regime continues to bet on improving international promotion of Cuba as a tourist destination, strengthening attention to tour operators, and revitalizing the country's image in the global market.

In January, there was a 25% drop in the arrival of international visitors compared to the same month last year.

The reason is primarily due to the decrease in Canadian tourists, who have historically represented the largest influx of foreign visitors to the Island. The arrival of travelers from the United States and the Cuban community abroad also declined, though to a lesser extent.

One of the most notable declines was that of Russia, a market that in recent years had been essential in mitigating the tourism crisis.

In January, the number of Russian visitors fell by half compared to January 2024, highlighting the decline in Cuba's appeal even among this group.

Nevertheless, the regime continues to bet on the recovery of this sector, the main driver of the national economy.

In February, Manuel Marrero, the Cuban Prime Minister, emphasized the need to foster collaboration among all sectors to restore tourism to its role as the "engine of the Cuban economy."
