Since Thursday, when tourists and young people began arriving in the Sunshine State to celebrate spring break, various restrictions and police operations came into effect, noted Telemundo 51.

Among the main security measures are the increase in parking spaces, doubled fines, access restrictions to neighborhoods, and restrictions on the sale of alcohol, among others that we detail below:

  • Duplicate traffic fines in special areas.
  • Access restrictions in neighborhoods like South of Fifth and Flamingo Park, allowing entry only for residents.

  • Restriction on the sale of alcohol in the Entertainment District until 8 p.m.
  • Control of registrations and sobriety checkpoints on key roads.

  • Suspension of the rental of golf carts, scooters, and low-displacement motorcycles.

From Thursday to Sunday during March, the Miami Beach Police will also implement a traffic plan to reduce congestion in residential areas. Additionally:

  • Ocean Drive will only allow vehicle access from the northernmost available street, with a single exit onto Fifth Street.
  • Barricades will be installed on the west side of Ocean Drive to prevent contact between pedestrians and vehicles.
  • Beach access on Ocean Drive is limited to 5th, 10th, and 12th Streets, closing at 6 p.m.
  • Coolers, inflatable items, tents, and tables are prohibited on the beach, as well as the consumption of alcohol and tobacco.
