The restoration of electrical service in Pinar del Río has begun, with the first circuits receiving power, following the massive blackout last Friday that left much of the country without electricity.

The news was shared this Sunday on Facebook by journalist Lázaro Manuel Alonso, who reported on the commencement of the reconnection in the province.

"The restoration of electrical service in Pinar del Río has begun. Circuits are starting to receive power," Alonso emphasized.

In another post, the official journalist stated that the "National Electric System is reconnecting from Pinar del Río to Guantánamo."

The news was also confirmed by Yamilé Ramos Cordero, the first secretary of the Party in Pinar del Río, who stated on social media that, although the restoration has begun, not all homes have electricity yet.

"Pinar del Río is now connected to the SEN; from now on, the circuits will be gradually energized. Thank you to the heroes of the energy sector!" he emphasized.

The Antonio Guiteras Thermal Power Plant (CTE), located in Matanzas, synchronized with the National Electric System (SEN) this Sunday, having completed technical adjustments for its reactivation.

According to the newspaper Girón, the largest electricity generating plant in the country was able to start operations in the afternoon, strengthening the energy supply in the nation, following last Friday's massive blackout.

Despite Pinar del Río being connected to the National Electric System, the province, like Artemisa and Mayabeque, will not resume classes this Monday.

In this regard, the Ministry of Education announced that, due to the disconnection of the SEN last Friday, it has been necessary to make adjustments to the activities of the General Education System, adapting them to the specific conditions of each region.

According to a note published by the newspaper Granma, educational institutions at all levels will adjust their return schedules, and students will receive specific information through the relevant authorities.

For its part, the Ministry of Higher Education announced the postponement of students' entry to university residences, which typically takes place on Sundays, due to the energy crisis affecting the country.
