"Hunger, misery, and need have fueled crime in Cuba. Look at this young boy, how they took his life away. 'Don't go out! Stay in your homes, play music, and have fun that way, because the streets are dangerous, very dangerous,' he added."

One of his friends, Haned Mota, son of the singer Haila María Mompié, reminisced about the singer's early days when they both studied at the National School of Art (ENA).

"My brother, I don't even know what to write, I have no words to describe the pain I feel. We studied together since we were kids at ENA, I always saw your talent when you sang me songs during our breaks, my brother. When everyone thought you were crazy, I always saw your talent," wrote Mota, who also recounted how the artist had recently begun to gain recognition.

"It was last year when you stood out on the street and began making waves with your songs in Cuba alongside @morffa.promo. I told you, 'My brother, keep it up, leave the street behind, problems won’t get you anywhere, focus on the music, you’re one of the good ones, Yaikel.' But no one learns from someone else's mistakes," Aned Mota added.

Finally, he expressed his sorrow for the loss: “Wherever you are, my brother, take away this immense pain from our hearts. Why did you leave, Yaikel, my friend? Why you, my brother, with a future ahead and talent from another planet? It wasn’t your time, at 23 life is crazy. Fly high, my friend. @mulatico_mulane, my condolences to your family. I love you, my brother, this broke me in half.”

"Violence in Cuba is getting out of control and no one is doing anything about it. Cuba is falling apart in every aspect. We have lost five colleagues in the genre since El Taiger passed away. On behalf of all your close friends, we bid you farewell, @mulatico_mulane. Rest in peace. We will always remember you with all the beautiful moments we shared in life. Thank you for gifting us your music, thank you for the friendship we had, thank you for everything, champion. Rest in peace," wrote Dashel Odisea.

Among the condolence messages is one from Caliéntalo Media, which was their production company on the island.

"It is truly very sad, but what happened is not related to Cuba, meaning the country; it has to do with the people, those ignorant individuals who want to solve everything with bravado, aggression, and a negative atmosphere. Those mediocre people who don't go out to fight for a decent living... in any way possible, but without attacking others, because the other person is in the same situation or worse than you," lamented one of many commentators on social media.

"They waste talent on bravado and attitude, and these are the results, unfortunately. This mentality of 'I am more charming than you' leads to nothing. Bravado is just four pesos in your pocket and buying a house for your mom; that's the real routine and environment," pointed out another.

As of the time this note was written, there is still a lack of information regarding the exact circumstances surrounding the young singer's death, although expressions of sorrow for his loss are multiplying on social media.
