The young Cuban baseball player Dorvis Lornet Navarro Queralta, originally from the Isle of Youth, passed away this Tuesday at the age of just 24, according to various sources on social media.

“We join in the sorrow of family and friends of Dorvis Lornet Navarro Queralta, pitcher for the most recent Isla de la Juventud teams and member of the national under-23 selections, who passed away today in that territory”, the Cuban Baseball and Softball Federation wrote on X.

Although the official source did not mention the cause of death, the sports portal Swing Completo and other sources reported that the young pitcher passed away due to a heart attack.

"Goodbye forever, PIRATA. With deep sorrow, we inform baseball fans that today we lost a young pitcher. We are speaking of Dorvis Navarro. This sudden death is unfortunate and sad. To his family, friends, and followers, we send our sincerest condolences. Rest in peace, CHAMPION," wrote JuanK on the sports portal “Por la Goma.”

JuanK took the opportunity to suggest that today, before starting each match of the Elite League, a tribute be paid to the deceased player with a minute of silence.
