A severe local storm caught the residents of Juan Pedro Carbó, in the municipality of Placetas, Villa Clara, by surprise on the afternoon of this Tuesday, leaving behind hail, heavy rain, and strong winds.

The weather event caused damage to lightweight roofing on homes, destruction of thatched houses, and falling trees, according to the specialized site Vigilancia Tropical on Facebook, with images provided by contributor Keiler Chinea Martín.

The publication, signed by meteorological observation technician Ricardo Barrio Hernández, was accompanied by several images showing the impressive hailstorm in that locality, as well as damage caused to roofs.

On his part, the official spokesperson Henry Omar Pérez reported on Facebook that there were also impacts in the Callejón de los Patos community in Santa Clara, where strong winds caused damage to roofs and led to power interruptions, prompting local authorities to assess and address the damages.

"According to the initial assessments, the most significant damages include deterioration of roofs in some homes and failures in the electrical system, caused by strong winds and adverse weather conditions. Fortunately, there have been no reported loss of life or injuries," he emphasized.

This Tuesday, another severe local storm struck the municipality of Unión de Reyes, in the province of Matanzas, causing material damage to roofs, trees, and sports facilities.

According to the newspaper Girón on its Facebook profile, the meteorological phenomenon occurred between 3:00 p.m. and 4:30 p.m., with linear winds exceeding 90 kilometers per hour, associated with thunderstorms.

The weather station in Unión de Reyes recorded 30.4 millimeters of rain in just 22 minutes, while several residents in the area also reported hail.
