A Cuban man was stabbed by a Venezuelan coworker this Tuesday, following an argument that began in the restaurant where they both work and ended out in the street, in Mexico City.

Officials from the Secretaría de Seguridad Ciudadana (SSC) of Mexico City arrested the alleged aggressor after arriving at the intersection of Avenida Revolución and Calle Antonio Maceo, in the Tacubaya neighborhood, reported a statement from the institution.

The police found the 25-year-old Cuban with a bloodstain on his chest and immediately requested assistance from medical personnel.

The Cuban reported to the authorities that while he was working as a dishwasher at a Chinese restaurant, he had a heated argument with another employee, which continued in the street, where the Venezuelan ended up attacking him with a knife.

Media outlets identified the assailant as Antoni (or Antonio) de Jesús Batista, but did not disclose the name of the Cuban. It is unknown whether both are in Mexico legally.

According to information from the SSC, paramedics from the Mexican Red Cross attended to the injured individual, who was diagnosed with a stab wound to the chest, and was subsequently transferred to a hospital for urgent medical attention.

The 24-year-old assailant was arrested, informed of his legal rights, and handed over to the Public Prosecutor's agent, who will determine his legal status, the official statement specified.
