Republican Congressman Carlos A. Giménez reiterated his public call for citizens to assist in identifying the repressive agents of the Cuban regime residing in the United States, whom he described as "communist monsters" responsible for crimes against humanity.
"Continue helping me identify the repressive agents of the #Cuba dictatorship who have infiltrated our country. These communist monsters have committed crimes against humanity and are now taking advantage of our laws to retire in the USA. They have no place here!" he said through his official account on the social media platform X (formerly Twitter).
The Cuban-born legislator has reiterated his commitment to the exiled community and stated that he will work tirelessly to prevent the country from becoming a safe haven for collaborators of Castroism.
This statement adds to the letter sent to the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), in which Giménez requested the immediate deportation of individuals who, according to reports, are linked to the Communist Party of Cuba, the Ministry of the Interior, or the Rapid Response Brigades, groups identified for repressive acts against the Cuban citizenry.
In his letter, the congressman included a list of names provided by independent organizations and expressed his concern about the manipulation of immigration programs, such as the Cuban Adjustment Act, which were created to protect the victims of the dictatorship, not its perpetrators.
"The presence of these regime operatives not only endangers our communities, but also provides the Cuban regime with a basis for espionage, political coercion, and illicit activities within our borders," he warned.
The congressman's statement comes shortly after the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) announced the arrest of Daniel Morejón García, a 57-year-old Cuban citizen accused of concealing his affiliation with the Cuban regime upon entering the U.S.
According to ICE, Morejón was a member of the Communist Party of Cuba and an agent of the Ministry of the Interior, as well as actively participating as president of the National Defense Council in Artemisa.
He would also have joined the Rapid Response Brigades during the protests on July 11, 2021, where he allegedly participated in the violent repression against protesters.
The reports can be made directly to the DHS offices or through official immigration channels.
