According to the explanation provided, the scent and fingerprint tests conducted by the Cuban authorities returned positive results, identifying Vázquez Pompa as one of the individuals responsible for the theft, and he is currently believed to be on the run throughout the country.

During the last few months, the increasing insecurity in Cuba has triggered a wave of civic actions in search of justice, often beyond the reach of the authorities.

Cases like the one that occurred in November 2024 in Havana, where a security camera captured a man stealing in broad daylight, motivated the victims to offer monetary rewards for information.

In October of that same year, a Cuban resident in the United States offered one and a half million Cuban pesos for information that would help locate the person responsible for another robbery, demonstrating how connections with the outside world also influence the quest for justice in light of the apparent inaction of national authorities.

In February, a Cuban doctor publicly reported the theft of her university diploma, a crucial document for practicing her profession, and offered a monetary reward for its return.

In March, the same home in Havana fell victim to two robbery attempts within a short time frame, underscoring the level of vulnerability that affects even those who try to enhance their protection. Faced with desperation and a lack of official response, the affected family decided to offer a reward of 50,000 Cuban pesos for information leading to the identification of the thieves.
