Relatives and activists have issued a public alert regarding the disappearance of Yanilkis Durán Fonseca, a 43-year-old woman suffering from paranoid schizophrenia, who was last seen on Tuesday, May 14, in the Los Sitios neighborhood of Central Havana.
According to reported by journalist Mel Herrera, who shared the details through her social media, Yanilkis —who is also known as Yanelkis or Yane— left her home that night wearing blue pants and a white pullover with letters, similar to the one shown in the circulated photo. She wore flip-flops and carried a bag with clothes, leading to the assumption that she might have changed her outfit after leaving.
The woman is originally from Santiago de Cuba, but currently resides in the capital. Her family states that she should not have strayed far from the area where she was last seen. Yanilkis is described as a very friendly and helpful person, which could expose her to vulnerable situations.
The organization Alas Tensas, through its Gender Observatory, joined the call with the hashtag #AlertaYeniset, disseminating the image of the missing person and the contact numbers available for anyone who may have information about her whereabouts: 50134047 and 63691885.
If you have seen her or have any information, please contact us immediately. Every minute counts to find Yanilkis safe.
