The roads of Miami were the setting for a scene that seems straight out of an absurd comedy movie… or a video game.
A man was filmed driving with his feet, without a door on the car and with no sign of concern whatsoever. The footage, shared on social media, quickly went viral and sparked a flood of comments ranging from astonishment, sarcasm, to social criticism.
The images show the driver reclined, using his feet to steer while holding a cellphone in one hand. The driver's side door is conspicuously missing, the seat looks improvised, and the whole setup resembles more of a carnival cart than a vehicle legally fit for the road.
The digital community wasted no time in responding. "Level dirty foot 305 unlocked," joked one user, while another quipped, "That's autonomous driving, Dade version." Some, more concerned, wondered why the police hadn't intervened: "Where is ICE or the FHP when you really need them?" they questioned.
Others interpreted it as a metaphor for the city's traffic chaos: "Because of things like this, insurance in Miami costs an arm and a leg."
The situation also served as an excuse for politically charged or xenophobic comments, linking the driver's behavior to the "importation" of habits from the so-called "third world." There were even claims from some who insisted they had seen him before, implying that this wouldn't be the first time the driver has risked his life—and that of others—on the streets of Florida.
The episode was tagged on various platforms under the now-popular "Only in Dade," a label that Miami has adopted to describe surreal situations and, in this case, potentially dangerous ones.
So far, the identity of the driver has not been confirmed, nor whether they are facing charges for reckless driving. What is certain is that they have earned a spot in the realm of absurd viral moments… and in the collective outrage of Miami drivers.
