The Ministry of the Interior (MININT) reported the discovery of two vessels in the province of Matanzas that have been confiscated, in accordance with Resolution No. 1/2015 of the agency, which outlines the procedures to be followed for ships found in territorial waters.

According to the statement from MININT, the seizure of the two boats was completed on May 23, although they had been discovered in December 2024 and in January of this year.

One of the confiscated boats had a plastic hull with a handwritten note inside one of its sides featuring the initials DABID DIEHEL and the number 989-640-4107, without any other identifying elements.

It has a length of 3.00 meters, a beam of 1.50 meters, a depth of 0.40 meters, and is propelled by oars.

In that case, the boat was found on December 21, 2024, in the area known as “Canal de los Barcos,” in the municipality of Martí in Matanzas.

The other confiscated vessel has the following characteristics: "type boat, red color, plastic hull material, no identifying elements, length 2.90 meters, beam 1.29 meters, draft 0.65 meters, with an outboard motor, brand Yamaha, 9.9 HP and 2 cylinders, and other goods on board."

The second boat was found on January 24, 2025, in the area near the Sireny Tropic Hotel, in the Cárdenas municipality, also in Matanzas.

Periodically, the MININT provides updates on the vessels found in Cuban territorial waters, which are eventually confiscated after a period during which no one claims them.

It is common for sea vessels like these to be abandoned on Cuban shores, often after being used by smugglers, drug traffickers, or migrants operating in the region.

In May, the Border Guard Troops Directorate reported that on April 26, a nameless jet ski, colored black and yellow, with the number FL3058TC, was found in the Quebrado el Real area, in the municipality of Nuevitas, Camagüey province.

On that occasion, it was reported that a second vessel, with no visible name or registration, was found on December 12, 2024, in Estero Los Negros, in the municipality of Esmeralda, also in Camagüey.
