The Cuban regime evacuated women, a minor, and three journalists from its embassy in Iran due to the Israeli military aggression, as reported on Thursday by Foreign Minister Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla.
“Women and children from the Cuban Embassy in Iran were evacuated due to Zionist aggression against Iran. We included one minor and three Cuban journalists residing in Tehran,” wrote Rodríguez Parrilla on the social network X.
The head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs assured that, despite the situation, the Cuban diplomatic mission in Tehran continues to operate normally and provides consular assistance to Cuban citizens residing in the Persian nation.
Contrary to the usual practices of many diplomatic missions, which prioritize the protection of their personnel in conflict situations, the Cuban ambassador to Iran, Carlos M. Pereira, stated that the Cuban diplomatic mission "continues its operations despite the Israeli aggression" and that it has implemented "the necessary protective measures for exceptional situations."
Pereira added that, in addition to political and diplomatic efforts, the embassy maintains constant attention to the Cubans residing in Iran, which shows that the Cuban regime reiterates its support for the Iranian government even amid military escalation with Israel.
For her part, Ana Teresita González Fraga, Director General of Consular Affairs and Assistance to Cubans Residing Abroad (DGACCRE), stated on the social network X that the embassies of Cuba in Iran and Cyprus “will continue the unwavering mission of assisting our fellow citizens in Iran and Israel, respectively.”
The official added that relatives in Cuba can also contact both the DGACCRE and the Office of Population Attention of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to receive information or assistance.
