A massive brawl broke out between the teams of Sancti Spíritus and Ciego de Ávila last Saturday at the José Antonio Huelga stadium in Sancti Spíritus during a game of the National Baseball Series for players under 23.

Around 10 players, five from each team, were ejected following the brawl that occurred "in the bottom of the sixth inning, at a time when the game was proceeding relatively normally," reported the Cuban News Agency (ACN).

The game resumed after the incident and ended with a victory for Espirituana, 6-4.

The official agency's statement condemned the violence and urged the National Baseball Commission to impose "firm and exemplary" sanctions.

The Facebook page Pro Spirit Cuba, which shared videos and images of the event, pointed out the limited police presence at the stadium.

"In the images, only one officer can be seen, whose height is around 1.60 meters, and whose actions were clearly insufficient," he commented.

Last year, following an apparent umpire error, violence erupted in a game between the teams of Cienfuegos and Camagüey in the National Baseball Series.

In the match held at the Estadio 5 de Septiembre in the province of Cienfuegos, the officials and players of Cienfuegos confronted the referee, claiming that his decision had been incorrect.

This disagreement quickly escalated, with pushing and altercations between players from both teams, creating an atmosphere of great tension and violence that resonated among the spectators in the stadium, who shouted with anger from the stands.
