The men's volleyball team from Cuba is facing serious logistical challenges in its preparation for the second week of the Nations League (VNL), as they are unable to travel with the full team to Europe due to issues with visa processing.

According to a post by journalist Raúl Rodríguez on Facebook, only six players and the team's statistician managed to board the flight this Sunday to Belgrade, the capital of Serbia, which will host the second qualifying group for the Cubans.

Meanwhile, eight athletes, including key figures like Marlon Yant Herrera, Miguel Ángel López, and Javier Concepción, remain in Cuba awaiting a resolution that will allow them to join the rest of the team in the coming hours.

The situation has generated concern among volleyball fans and experts, as it could compromise the team's performance in the initial matches of this new phase of competition.

The Cuban Federation of the discipline has not yet issued an official statement detailing the exact causes of the bureaucratic error nor the steps being taken to rectify the setback.

Cuba's Schedule in the VNL - Week 2 (Belgrade)

Cuba vs Germany – Wednesday, June 25, 7:00 a.m.

Cuba vs Serbia – Thursday, June 26, 2:00 p.m.

Cuba vs Netherlands – Friday, June 27, 2:00 p.m.

Cuba vs Argentina – Sunday, June 29, 10:30 a.m.

A new debut filled with uncertainty

Cuba is set to make its debut this Wednesday against Germany, without guarantees of having the full roster, which poses a serious competitive challenge. The Caribbean team is seeking to earn valuable points that will enable them to remain in contention at the top level.

It is worth noting that during the first week in Brazil, the team only secured one victory—against the local team—and suffered three losses to Slovenia, Ukraine, and the United States, marking a disappointing performance.

While awaiting a swift resolution, there is hope that the group of eight players on the Island will be able to join in time to strengthen the team for this week’s key matches.
