A man was arrested this Thursday in the Playa Girón popular council, in the municipality of Ciénaga de Zapata, for having a homemade rifle inside his home.

The individual, identified as Yuniesky Sobrino Sayas, was unable to justify the possession of the weapon, which led to his immediate detention by local authorities, according to reports from the official profile "Con Todos La Victoria".

According to official information, Yuniesky —who was unemployed and had a history of the crime of possession of stolen goods— did not present any legal documentation nor provided a coherent explanation regarding the origin of the rifle.

The weapon was seized as part of an operation aimed at addressing the proliferation of "illegal" and "potentially dangerous" objects.
