Three citizens who robbed a house in the city of Santa Clara using a firearm and seriously injured one of its residents were captured by the police, according to information from official sources.
A note published on Facebook this Sunday by communicator Henry Omar Pérez announced the arrest of the perpetrators of a violent robbery that took place a few days ago in a house located on Campo Street, in the Capiro neighborhood, in the capital city of Villa Clara province.

According to the report, two individuals broke into the home with the intent to steal, "using violence and carrying a firearm." Both acted "under the instructions of a third party."
During the assault, "a resident of the house was seriously injured, who was hospitalized and is now out of danger," Pérez stated, citing neighbors from the area as his source.
On the morning of June 26th, agents from the Ministry of the Interior arrested the three individuals and, during the search conducted, seized the firearm used in the robbery, which was "illegally obtained," it was noted.
The identity of the three arrested individuals has not been revealed. The pro-government communicator highlighted the "prompt action" of the authorities to clarify the events.
This violent incident reflects the rise in insecurity in the country due to the increase in crime, within a context marked by a severe economic and social crisis, and the absence of effective measures by the authorities to curb criminal activities.

Geosvany Fidel Rivalta, a tourism driver, was found dead on Tuesday after several days of searching, following his disappearance on June 19 while making a trip from Ranchuelo, Villa Clara, to Matanzas. To date, authorities have not communicated whether anyone has been detained or is under investigation for the murder of the young man, which has devastated his family and shocked the community.
On June 4th, Agustín Pellicer Charón, a 70-year-old farmer, was tortured and murdered in his home, in the rural settlement of Quintoque, located at kilometer 36 of the highway connecting Songo-La Maya, in Santiago de Cuba, to Guantánamo.
The attackers took advantage of the fact that Pellicer lived alone to assault him and steal around 15 head of cattle. They concealed his body under some wooden planks, where his neighbors found him the following morning. According to the independent portal CubaNet, the authorities arrested at least six people connected to the crime, but most were released due to a lack of evidence.
In response to the concerning rise in crime, the Cuban regime is attempting to address the issue with ongoing police operations. Last Monday, it launched the Third National Exercise for the Prevention and Combat of Crime, corruption, drug trafficking, and social indiscipline, a large-scale operation that continued until this Saturday, under the supervision of the Communist Party, the Ministry of the Interior, and other state structures.
In this context, it has intensified its strategy of exemplary trials, which seeks to impose harsh and visible punishments to deter the commission of crimes.
The Provincial Court of Guantánamo sentenced three defendants on Thursday to 25, 20, and 17 years of imprisonment for a violent robbery committed against a farmer from the municipality of Manuel Tames, from whom they stole more than three million pesos.
