A woman who was rescued unconscious from the waters of the Miami River this week after being pushed by a man has died at Jackson Memorial Hospital, where she was admitted.

Marie Roseme, 39 years old, died last Thursday, according to local authorities.

On Tuesday morning, 47-year-old William Bill Youmans Jr. threw her into the river near the 100 block of Southwest North River Drive.

According to the police report consulted by Local 10, the victim was sitting on the waterfront when a violent argument broke out with Youmans, who subsequently pushed her into the water.

A teenager witnessed the exact moment of the push and immediately called 911 while keeping watch over Youmans until the officers arrived.

The Miami Fire Rescue divers responded quickly to the alert and found Roseme floating unconscious in the canal, near the Southwest 1st Street bridge.

She was rushed to the Ryder Trauma Center at Jackson Memorial, where she arrived in critical condition. Although she was initially stabilized, her condition worsened, and she passed away.

Videos shared on social media, including on the account "Only in Dade," show the dramatic moments of the rescue, including an officer diving into the water in an attempt to save the victim.

For their part, Youmans, who does not have a permanent residence, was arrested on the same Tuesday.

He was facing an initial charge of attempted second-degree murder, but authorities confirmed that the charge will be updated following the tragic end of Roseme.

Witnesses of the event indicated that the argument between the two was intense and involved the throwing of objects.

A person claimed to have frequently seen the woman in the nearby park, suggesting that she may also have been in a vulnerable situation.

Youmans' behavior in the Homicide Office of the Miami Police Department was described as highly disturbing.

According to the arrest report, he began to shout erratically, hit the walls, and at one point masturbated on the interrogation table, which forced the detectives to suspend the questioning.

The nature of the relationship between Roseme and Youmans has not yet been clarified by authorities, but it has been confirmed that they were previously acquainted.

The area where the incident occurred was cordoned off for hours while officers collected evidence and interviewed witnesses.

Youmans remains detained at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center, awaiting a hearing to determine his legal status. For now, his bail is listed as "to be set."

This tragic event has raised concern among local residents, who are calling for increased police presence and support for homeless individuals to prevent similar incidents in the future.

The investigation is still ongoing.
