A man was shot in the leg following an alleged dispute over a parking space on Monday morning in Little Havana, Miami.
The victim, Edgar Morales, reported to the news channel Telemundo 51 that after he moved his car at a neighbor's request, the neighbor shot him in the leg with a gun that he then pointed at his head.
"He told me to move the car (...) the owner called him, so I came, moved the car a block away (...) He tried to shoot me, he fired and grazed my leg," he recounted.
Morales, who had gone to visit his mother and leave her his son, struggled with the man and managed to disarm him.
“He looked normal, but at that moment he had the weapon and made the threat. He didn't think of any reason or anything (...) He reloaded the weapon and pointed it at my head, saying he was going to kill me and that he was going to kill my family,” he assured.
The assailant fled in a car, aided by his partner, after Morales chased him for several blocks, and he is currently at large.
"When he tried to pull the trigger, that’s when I jumped on him and struggled with him, and then my stepfather and his partner came, and we took the weapon away from him (...) I called the police, and it turns out that his partner took a vehicle, went a block away, found him, and took him away. Right now, he is on the run," she said.
The police arrived at Southwest 7th Avenue and 5th Street after receiving reports of gunfire.
Morales was transported to Jackson Memorial Hospital. The assailant has been identified, although their arrest has not yet been reported.
