Yordenis Ugás responds to racist comments on social media

The Cuban boxer Yordenis Ugás did not remain silent in the face of a wave of racist comments unleashed on social media following the publication of a piece by CiberCuba celebrating his 39th birthday alongside his current partner, influencer Olivia RS.

In a message posted on Facebook, Ugás strongly condemned the racist attacks he read in the comments section of the digital media, following the publication of an image of himself with Olivia, a white woman.

"I know this isn't right and I'm going to get a huge lecture from Mom. But I have to do it," she wrote.

She clarified that her intention was not to generate more hate or incite harassment, but to respond with dignity to attitudes that she considers unacceptable.

In his post, Ugás expressed his rejection of the idea that romantic relationships should be conditioned by skin color.

"If you think that just because I am Black I have to be with a Black person, or because I am white I have to be with a white person, then the racist is you, not me," he emphasized.

One of the comments that outraged her the most was from a user identified as Yandrisnay Valdés, who wrote: "But I wouldn't even go near that congo, no way!"

Ugás did not hesitate to respond directly, emphasizing that his rejection of her had nothing to do with her skin color, but rather with her offensive and vulgar attitude: "I would never look at you, for being rude, for being common, and for being gossipy."

The boxer emphasized that he does not let racial prejudices influence his choice of partner: "I like a woman, not the color of that woman. And thank God, at this point in my life, as long as it's mutual, I can have the woman I choose."

The origin of the controversy was a note published by CiberCuba in honor of Ugás's birthday, which shared images from the celebration in Miami.

The celebration was intimate and romantic, characterized by the couple's mutual understanding, who have now been together for a year.
