Mascolive Clinic defends its veterinary work and calls for greater transparency from the Bienestar Animal Cuba group

The Mascolive veterinary clinic, based in Havana, publicly responded to the concerns raised by the Havana-based animal welfare group Bienestar Animal Cuba (BAC-Habana), which is investigating alleged irregularities in its services.

In a lengthy document published this Monday on its social media, Mascolive defended the quality of its work, called for greater transparency in the process, and reaffirmed its willingness to engage in dialogue.

"We respectfully acknowledge all voices concerned about animal welfare," the clinic wrote on its Facebook profile, alongside the official statement.

"We remain committed to providing high-level veterinary medicine, equipped with cutting-edge technology and professional specialists."

In its formal response to the animal rights group's report, Mascolive explained that it has not had access to the testimonies or the criteria used by BAC to draft its report, which—according to the clinic—hinders the possibility of conducting a serious internal analysis.

He also questioned why the composition of the investigative team and the credentials of those who prepared the document had not been disclosed, noting that making judgments on technical issues requires specialized knowledge.

The clinic expressed regret that a previously coordinated visit could not take place, which would have served to present its internal documentation.

Mascolive ensures that it maintains detailed records of the cases attended to, systematized clinical protocols, and reports directed to regulatory authorities.

In addition, he reiterated that his communication channels with animal guardians are open and active, and that meetings are held regularly to discuss specific cases with the involved parties.

"We reaffirm our willingness to welcome anyone interested in learning about our work firsthand," concludes the statement, which emphasizes a commitment to a dialogue that is "direct, transparent, and respectful."

On its part, BAC-Havana also responded through its social media, stating that the Mascolive document does not contradict the information presented in its original report.

The association explained that the testimonials were not shared with the clinic because the reporting individuals requested anonymity, and that the meeting has not yet taken place because it was scheduled for after both reports were exchanged.

BAC specified that it has maintained direct contact with representatives of Mascolive and that the agreed-upon order of work was: BAC's report, Mascolive's response, and a meeting based on both documents.

The animal rights group emphasized that their role is one of mediation, not punishment, and that any disciplinary measures fall under the authority of legal and state institutions, to which they affirm they have submitted copies of the complaints.

The conflict between both parties arises in the context of an investigation initiated by BAC-Habana after receiving multiple citizen complaints regarding veterinary care at Mascolive, particularly in complex cases.
