The sister of the Cuban reggaeton artist Chocolate MC, Isis Sierra, has created a buzz on TikTok after posting a video in which she speaks candidly about her arrival in the United States, her adjustment process, and the sacrifices she has made to get ahead on her own.
The video, which quickly went viral, responds to those who claim that the popular and controversial singer —who is currently in prison in the U.S.— did not support her when she emigrated.
"Is that what you want to hear? That my brother didn’t help me when I came to this country? But no, that’s not true. My brother did help me and supported me a lot," Isis affirmed in the video.
A still, he made it clear that his current life does not depend on that initial help. “No one is obligated to help you, and that was the first thing I learned when I set foot in this country. Here, if you don’t fight for yourself, no one will do it for you,” he said. “I didn’t come for handouts, I came to build my own story. When I was let go from my job, I didn't go crying to anyone. I learned to make my own money. Today, I don’t live off anyone’s name. I live off what I have built with my mind, with my story,” he concluded.
Isis—known on social media as @isis_marketing—currently balances her role as a mother and entrepreneur with content creation on digital platforms, where she shares marketing tips and personal development advice. Partly, she earns a living from what she generates on TikTok and Instagram, where she offers mentoring and courses for those who want to learn how to monetize their social media.
The reactions were swift. “You are a fighter,” “What a great attitude,” and “An example to follow” are some of the messages she received. One user even recalled that Isis and her family "were left on the street sleeping with their children" after arriving in the U.S.
Amid the controversy that has always surrounded Chocolate MC —whether due to his arrests, explicit songs, or explosive statements—, his sister has chosen a different path: that of independence, hard work, and positive content.
