Two women were caught on the security camera of a small business in Central Havana at the exact moment they were stealing two large blocks of cheese.

In the images, it can be seen how both are positioned at the back of the store, next to a refrigerator.

Next, one person places a cheese block between her thighs while the other hides another block of cheese beneath her breasts, taking advantage of her ample figure.

The video was shared on Facebook by user Rey Semino, who accompanied the post with a warning:

"Be very careful with these women who are dedicated to stealing in businesses and operate in gangs; you cannot trust that they are older or just old... they are criminals to the highest degree."

Semino added that they will be reported, and urged people to closely observe their faces because they are "specialized thieves."

"Be very careful and share so that the full weight of the law falls upon them," he concluded.

The journalist Alberto Arego, for his part, specified that the incident occurred around noon on Friday at a location on Zapata and Infanta.

Other details about the suspects

Alongside the video, Semino also shared a snippet of a conversation from WhatsApp where someone claimed that the two women are habitual thieves.

According to that testimony, there is also another video circulating where they are seen stealing bottles of rum.

He also mentioned that they usually travel in a red Lada, which they always park close to the scene.

Reactions: Between condemnation, mockery, and reflection on the crisis

The images have generated a flood of comments ranging from outrage to analysis of the causes behind the theft.

Some users pointed out that the economic crisis, inflation, and food shortages in Cuba have driven up the price of products like cheese, which has led to an increase in thefts of that and other items in private stores.

Under that argument, some partially justified the incident, although the vast majority condemned it.

“No matter how many needs one has… I would rather die of hunger than go through something like that”; “One can be in need, but being a thief is another matter… they are used to those kinds of thefts,” commented two responders.

Several internet users clarified that not all small and medium-sized enterprises (mipymes) belong to the state, and that in many cases they are family-run businesses that create jobs and are significantly harmed by this type of theft.

“Many are self-employed workers who... buy products in dollars and sell them in national currency”; “These products do not belong to the State, they belong to the business owner, who is a private individual, and it is very wrong on their part and should be punished”; “No goods should be stolen from the State... not from individuals”, wrote three commentators.

Amid the indignation, comments filled with astonishment and irony emerged:

"Oh my, how embarrassing... how on earth can that woman walk with that block of cheese between her legs? My God, I’d rather go hungry than go through something like that"; "That's magic... it takes training for that"; "Today we're having cheese"; "Cheese with tortilla... because there are definitely going to be snacks."

Several demanded that the incident not go unpunished and that the case be pursued further.

“ It would be spectacular to see the sanctions imposed for them to have a real effect”; “They need to report them, call the police… they are criminals capable of anything”; “Justice must be held accountable for giving them what they deserve.”

Between sorrow and collective indignation

The most recurring sentiment was one of shame. Dozens of comments were limited to phrases like “What a pity!”, “What a disgrace!”, or “My God, what a shame!”; “Everything has been lost: morality, shame, respect, humility… people have lost their values.”

The episode not only revealed a criminal act but also exposed the social polarization regarding the interpretation of such thefts amid the Cuban crisis.

On one hand, there are those who view it as an inevitable consequence of necessity, and on the other, there are those who consider it an inexcusable act that harms the social fabric and local enterprises.
