Havana was once again flooded this Tuesday. A video shared on social media shows the Vía Blanca completely submerged, with a long line of vehicles trying to move forward amidst the heavy rain and water-covered pavement, just 24 hours after a downpour caused severe flooding and damage in the capital.

The images, shared by the official journalist Lázaro Manuel Alonso, reflect the poor visibility and the risks faced by drivers and passengers on one of the busiest roads in the city.

Several internet users pointed out that, in addition to the intensity of the rain, the accumulated garbage and the inadequate drainage system would be exacerbating the extent of the flooding.

Has the accumulated garbage influenced the severity of the flooding in Havana over the past three days? We are already in hurricane season. To govern is to foresee," commented a user on the post.

The situation arises just a day after a strong storm system battered much of western Cuba, causing streets turned into rivers, trapped buses, flooded homes and high-risk scenes in areas such as Vento-Lacret, Avenida del Puerto, and the Vía Blanca itself.

Neighbors reported that some bus drivers and off-road vehicle operators attempted to cross flooded areas, putting their lives and those of passengers at risk.

Meanwhile, in the eastern part of the country, some users reported drought, highlighting the climatic and infrastructure inequalities that affect Cuba from one end to the other.
