A man lost his life in Havana after being struck this Saturday by a state truck while traveling in a bicycle taxi, according to witnesses of the accident.

According to what has been reported in the Facebook group "ACCIDENTES BUSES & CAMIONES por más experiencia y menos víctimas!", on the road of the José Antonio Echeverría Technological University (Cujae), in the Varona area, when the truck was traveling at high speed and ended up colliding with the bicitaxi that was moving in its lane towards the victim's home.

The collision was so severe that the heavy vehicle drove over the bicitaxi, resulting in the immediate death of the occupant, as confirmed by relatives of the person in the post.

"He took off down Varona at full speed, and the guy on the bike taxi was coming down his path towards his house and clearly took him away," expressed a witness.

Neighbors and acquaintances of the victim confirmed what had happened and expressed their dismay at the tragedy.

So far, no official details have been provided regarding the causes of the accident or potential legal responsibilities, but the community is calling for greater traffic control and preventive measures to avoid similar incidents.
