A 15-year-old teenager was arrested this Wednesday after being accused of murdering his older brother and leaving the body near a canal in Dania Beach, as confirmed by the Broward Sheriff's Office (BSO).

Authorities identified the victim as Kevin Dominique, 23, who was found dead with multiple gunshot wounds on Tuesday morning in an area near Ocean Waterway Boulevard and Old Griffin Road.

The initial alert came around 8:00 am, when a passerby reported the presence of a body in the wooded area next to the canal.

A crime within the family

According to the investigation, Dominique's teenage brother "shot and intentionally killed" him at the family residence, located on Southwest Sixth Avenue, approximately a mile from where the body was found.

Subsequently, the minor allegedly transported the body to the wooded area and left it there before fleeing.

The young man, whose identity was not revealed due to being a minor, was transferred to the Youth Evaluation Center and is facing a charge of first-degree murder.

Neighbors surprised by the violence

Initially, when the discovery was still being treated as a "death investigation," the residents of the area were disturbed by the possibility that it might be a crime.

"It’s incredible whether it’s a murder or something like that, whether it’s a death or something like that. It’s a very, very, very quiet area," stated Local 10 Joseph Sisto, a resident of the area, before it was revealed that the victim had been executed by his own brother.

From uncertainty to arrest

On Tuesday, the scene was secured by the homicide and forensic units of the BSO, while they sought public assistance through Broward Crime Stoppers (954-493-8477).

One day later, investigators confirmed to Local 10 that it was not an accident or an undetermined death, but rather a planned familial homicide.

The tragic news has shaken the Dania Beach community, which is accustomed to the neighborhood's tranquility, and reignites the debate about gun violence and crimes committed by minors in the United States.
