Loose hair and open road... that's how the dollar and euro are faring in Cuba. At dawn this Thursday, both currencies are seeing significant price increases in the informal market, according to the daily report from elTOQUE.

In the last few hours, the dollar has surged by five pesos in one go and is now at 410 CUP.

The euro, for its part, rises to 455 CUP, which represents an increase of two units.

The freely convertible currency (MLC), on the other hand, falls to 193 CUP, a movement that confirms the plunge into the depths of the virtual currency with which the regime operates.

Exchange Rate Evolution

In light of the increasing activity of the three reference currencies in the Cuban informal market, particularly the dollar and the euro in recent months, it is a fact that the national currency is becoming weaker and that ordinary Cubans are losing purchasing power.

Meanwhile, the Cuban government remains silent despite promises of currency reform, which it has not yet commented on.
