The three patients who remain hospitalized at the “General Calixto García” Clinical Surgical Teaching Hospital following the massive incident that occurred in Havana are progressing well, and one of them could be discharged within the next 24 hours.

The information was confirmed by Cubadebate, which cited statements from Dr. Iliovanys Betancourt Plaza, the director of the hospital institution.

The specialist noted that the patients are responding positively to the treatments being administered, are under clinical monitoring, and have not experienced any serious complications that jeopardize their lives.

Of the three women still hospitalized, two are in general care rooms, and one remains in intermediate care due to a more complex maxillofacial injury.

According to Betancourt, the patient remains stable, without life-threatening risk, and has not required surgical intervention up to this point.

The healthcare center initially received seven injured individuals, including a minor and her mother, who were transferred to the Juan Manuel Márquez Pediatric Hospital for specialized care.

The mother, with minor injuries, stayed with the girl at all times. Other patients, after recovering satisfactorily, were discharged the day after the incident.

Unfortunately, a 35-year-old woman passed away just a few hours after being admitted to the Calixto García, making her the only fatality of the multiple hit-and-run incident.

The director emphasized the work of the medical team from the very beginning, with the support of the provincial health authorities and the Ministry of Public Health (MINSAP), as well as the ongoing communication with the victims' families.

The incident occurred around 2:30 a.m. on Monday when a foreign driver, a resident of Cuba, ran over several people at different locations in the Centro Habana and La Habana Vieja municipalities.

The individual was detained by law enforcement and remains under investigation to clarify the circumstances of what happened.
