Fortunately, no human casualties were reported, although local residents recounted moments of great tension upon seeing the vehicle loaded with coffins embedded in the home.

The incident occurs in a context of increasing public outrage over the collapse of funeral services in Cuba, marked by the shortage of coffins, lack of transportation, and the deterioration of chapels and cemeteries.

Just days ago, state media acknowledged the precariousness of the system, describing wakes as an "obstacle course" in which families must improvise transfers and cope with the absence of minimum conditions of dignity.

In provinces like Guantánamo, Pinar del Río, or Granma, there have been reports of coffins being transported on foot, in wheelbarrows, or in makeshift vehicles, while in Sancti Spíritus, a funeral vehicle dropped a coffin in the middle of the street, causing outrage among witnesses.

The accident in Regla, beyond the material impact, highlights the fragility of the Cuban funeral system. In a country where even a final rest does not seem guaranteed, the image of a truck full of coffins crashed against a house starkly illustrates the crisis of a service that should be dedicated to the respect and dignity of the deceased.

So far, the authorities have not reported on the causes of the accident or the measures that will be taken to repair the damages caused.
