The President of the United States, Donald J. Trump, reacted this Wednesday to the launch of Russian drones over Polish territory with a brief message on social media.

"What's happening with Russia violating Poland's airspace with drones? Here we go!", the leader wrote on his Truth Social platform, without clarifying his administration's official stance or the possible scenarios arising from this unprecedented act of such nature against a NATO member.

The statement comes hours after Poland shot down several unmanned vehicles originating from Belarusian territory, which Warsaw has described as an "unprecedented violation" of its sovereignty.

The Polish government invoked Article 4 of the NATO Treaty, which allows for consultations among allies when the security of a member is threatened.

Trump, who resumed the presidency in January 2025, did not provide any additional details regarding a potential response from Washington. However, his post has been interpreted as a sign that the United States is closely monitoring the escalation in Eastern Europe and does not rule out taking action if the situation worsens.

The Polish president, Donald Tusk, warned that his country is facing "a large-scale provocation" from Moscow. Meanwhile, both the European Union and NATO have condemned the incident and have begun consultations to coordinate a response.

Polish military sources confirmed that Russian drones were intercepted after entering border regions with Ukraine, causing material damage but no casualties. This is the first time since the onset of the war in Ukraine that a NATO country has responded militarily to a Russian incursion into its airspace.

The international community is closely watching the next steps of Washington, Brussels, and Moscow in a situation that could represent a new turning point in the conflict.
