Most of the injured from the electric tricycle that fell from a bridge in Matanzas have been discharged from the hospital

Most of the people injured in the accident that occurred this Monday in Matanzas, when an electric tricycle fell from the Viaduct bridge into the San Juan River, have already been discharged from medical care, as reported by the provincial government on social media.

In total, seven patients with minor injuries were discharged after being observed, as stated in the post published on .

Dr. Gretter Robaina Rodríguez, deputy director of the Comandante Faustino Pérez Hernández Provincial Hospital, explained that of the six adults treated, five had minor injuries and were monitored for 24 hours before being discharged.

An elderly adult remains hospitalized in the intensive care unit, after undergoing surgery for abdominal and thoracic trauma. Their condition is critical, and they are under the care of a multidisciplinary team of specialists.

On the other hand, the two minors who were injured —including a teenager with mild head trauma— were treated at the Eliseo Noel Caamaño Pediatric Hospital and have also been discharged.

The accident

The accident occurred around noon on Monday when a private electric tricycle fell from the Viaduct bridge into the San Juan River, on one of the busiest routes in the city of Matanzas.

Authorities reported eight injured individuals, including two minors, who were immediately taken to hospitals in the province for medical attention.
