A Cuban-American girl living in Miami fulfilled a dream that seemed impossible: meeting Marcolina, the beloved children’s character from the classic Cuban show La sombrilla amarilla, portrayed by actress Norma Reina.

Little Aitana, from Kendall, fell in love with the stories and antics of Marcolina when her mother, Deyany Felipe, showed her the programs that shaped the childhood of an entire generation in Cuba.

"I grew up watching La Sombrilla; it was my favorite show. One day, I showed it to my daughter, and she was thrilled. She watches an episode every day," Deyany told CiberCuba.

The girl's admiration was so great that her mother decided to record her imitating Marcolina and send the video directly to Norma Reina on social media. The surprise was immense when the actress responded and invited them to meet her in person.

The meeting took place last Saturday at a bakery in Hialeah, where Norma Reina was hosting an event while embodying her beloved character.

Aitana arrived dressed just like Marcolina, with her little hat and colorful dress, and the excitement was overwhelming when they hugged each other amid smiles and yellow umbrellas.

"I even asked for help on TikTok to contact Norma Reina. My daughter loves to dress like her and repeat her phrases. This meeting was a dream come true for both of us, because my inner child also met Marcolina," Deyany confessed.
