The Cuban actress Miriam Learra passed away in Havana at the age of 88.

The news was announced on Facebook by friends and colleagues.

“Farewell to Miriam Learra, an actress with a long career, especially on stage. Born in 1936, she studied on a scholarship in Prague and joined Teatro Estudio in 1966, where she worked with her best directors in plays such as La ronda, Doña Rosita la soltera, Bodas de sangre, Galileo Galilei, El becerro de oro, Don Gil de las calzas verdes, and many more,” wrote playwright Norge Espinosa on Facebook.

"She continued her career at the Compañía Hubert de Blanck starting in the 1990s. She also participated in radio, film, and television. She was a student of, among others, Adolfo de Luis and Vicente Revuelta," he added.

Also, the actor Alejandro Palomino said goodbye to the actress: “Rest in peace, Miriam Learra… my wonderful mother-in-law from Cerquitica del Vedado. Those days by your side are unforgettable!”

According to Ecured, Learra acted in telenovelas such as La séptima familia, Las honradas, and Tierra brava.

She was awarded the Best Female Performance at the first Havana Theater Festival and the Best Female Performance at the Sitges Theater Festival in Barcelona, Spain.

The causes of his death did not become known.
