A Cuban resident of the Allapattah neighborhood in Miami recounted the tense moment she experienced this Thursday during a shooting on her street, which left two officers injured and the suspect barricaded inside a home.

"A bullet could have killed me because that's where I sit by the window," she recounted, visibly shaken, to Telemundo 51, and showed the cameras the impact of a bullet on the window of her home.

"When the shots started, I got up and ran to the back of the house. I became very nervous, I'm still nervous," said the woman.

Two police officers injured after being met with gunfire

The incident began around 7:45 a.m. at the intersection of NW 15 Avenue and 26th Street, when several 911 calls reported gunfire from a high-caliber weapon in the neighborhood.

Agents from the Miami Police Department responded immediately and were met with gunfire. A woman and a man, both officers, were injured in the legs and were taken to Ryder Trauma Center, where they are reported to be in stable condition.

According to the police report, the shooting was caused by a previous confrontation between two brothers armed with semi-automatic rifles.

The attacker, identified as Mason Triana, 27 years old, was found dead inside a nearby house after barricading himself and firing at the officers. Authorities are still investigating whether he died from a police shot or if he committed suicide.

His brother, Alan Henry Triana, 38 years old, was arrested later and faces multiple charges, including possession of armor-piercing ammunition, tampering with evidence, and improper display of weapons.

The operation included a raid at the auto shop owned by Alan Triana, where agents recovered an AR-15-type rifle.

The officer who was injured was shot in the knee and has already been discharged, while the sergeant, who was wounded in the ankle, remained hospitalized on Friday.
