The popular Cuban creators Los Pichy Boys, who had previously successfully ventured into theater, officially announced their transition to film with their first movie, a comedy titled “Rebeca,” which will feature the work of screenwriter Ángel Santiesteban and is directed by the renowned filmmaker Lilo Vilaplana.

In a video posted on their Instagram account, the comedians shared with enthusiasm that the project marks a new chapter in their artistic career, which began nearly two decades ago on YouTube.

"We are very happy, after nearly 20 years in our career, for the first time Los Pichy Boys are going to the movies," they said.

The film will be a co-production between Vilaplana Films and Pichifilms, and according to their statements, the script was developed by them with the support of Cuban writer Ángel Santiesteban.

"The script is ready. We are set to start filming our first movie and we are very excited," they confirmed in a video also posted on Facebook.

The director Lilo Vilaplana, known for films such as Plantados and El Caballo – and generally one of the most critical voices against the Cuban regime from exile – stated that filming has already begun and that audiences will be able to enjoy “a spectacular comedy” that promises to entertain everyone.

"The movie is really good, the script is spectacular, and you are going to have a lot of fun; that's the most important thing," he stated.

During the announcement, Los Pichy Boys explained that "Rebeca" will not be exclusively a Cuban story, but rather a comedy with an international focus.

"It is a film made by Cubans, but designed for any audience in the world," said the creators who also have successfully ventured into short films.

The artists also invited entrepreneurs and brands to be part of the project, offering promotional spaces within the film.

"We want the brands to appear in the movie organically, as part of the story. If you have a business and want your product featured in the film, contact us at sales@lospichiboys.com," they explained.

In addition, they announced that the sponsors will be able to participate in the film's premiere in 2026. "It will be a big event, with artists and the public."

For his part, Vilaplana recalled that before the premiere of “Rebeca,” he will present his new documentary The Kidnapping of Flight 495, which will be screened on November 2 at the Artime Theater in Miami.

"We are happy to join forces. What’s coming with this movie is crazy," concluded the director.
