A house fire that occurred on the night of this Thursday in a home located at the intersection of Carretera Central and Cable in the city of Holguín was promptly controlled by the Cuerpo de Bomberos del Comando 25, which prevented a greater tragedy.
The incident occurred around 8:00 p.m. when a pan of oil was left unattended on an ignited gas stove, according to a statement released by the fire department on social media.
Upon arriving at the site, the experts conducted an immediate assessment and safely shut off the liquefied gas supply before proceeding to extinguish the flames, which were already beginning to spread across the kitchen area, reported the official profile Realidades from Holguín on Facebook.
"Thanks to the early alert and the swift action of the responders, the fire was extinguished before it could cause more significant damage," the statement noted.
The report specifies that there were no human casualties or injuries, and that the material damages were minimal. The neighbors in the area assisted in the management of the situation prior to the arrival of the firefighters, which helped prevent the fire from spreading, he emphasized.
The Fire Department took advantage of the incident to remind families to never leave the kitchen unattended while handling oils, flammable liquids, or gas appliances.
"The oil in a pan can reach its ignition point in a matter of seconds and cause a devastating fire," he warned.
The incident adds to other minor house fires recorded in the province so far this month, most of which were caused by negligence in handling cooking equipment and gas connections.
